The fourth annual Erie Cancer Wellness Center Duathlon brought athletes and families together this weekend for a friendly competition and a meaningful cause.<\/p>\n
The run-bike-run format allowed participants of all skill levels to compete while supporting the organization’s mission.<\/p>\n
Competitors completed a 5K run, followed by a 20K bike ride, and finished with another 5K run, totaling more than 18 miles.<\/p>\n
The race got underway at 9 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Park in Girard, with participants committed to both the challenge and the cause.<\/p>\n
The course stretched throughout the park grounds, giving athletes scenic views of the surrounding natural landscape.<\/p>\n
Volunteers lined the course, cheering on competitors and helping create an encouraging atmosphere.<\/p>\n
Money raised through donations and event registrations supports programs and services offered by the Erie Cancer Wellness Center.<\/p>\n
Organizers say the event is about more than competition, bringing the community together to support individuals and families affected by cancer.<\/p>\n
