What does Pittsburgh contribute to the American story \u2014 and what do you hope Pittsburgh will become over the next 250 years?<\/p>\n

This is the driving question artists are being asked to consider in the city\u2019s new America 250 City Art Poster Project, an initiative inviting local artists of all ages and skill levels to create an original poster celebrating Pittsburgh\u2019s place in the American story.<\/p>\n

One artist will receive a $5,000 Grand Prize and their work will become Pittsburgh\u2019s official America 250 City Art Poster, representing the city in the national project. Five additional finalists will each receive a $1,000 award.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPittsburgh has always been a city of makers, artists, builders, and people willing to imagine what comes next,\u201d says Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O\u2019Connor. \u201cAs we continue to celebrate 250 years of our nation, we want Pittsburgh\u2019s artists to help tell our part of that story \u2014 where we\u2019ve been, who we are today and what we hope to become.\u201d<\/p>\n

This project is the City of Pittsburgh\u2019s participation in the\u202fU.S.\u202fConference of Mayors\u2019 Freedom 250 City Art Poster Project, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Submissions can explore Pittsburgh\u2019s people, neighborhoods, history, landscape, industry, innovation, arts and culture, traditions, resilience or any other aspect of the city through the artist\u2019s own perspective. Artists should not feel limited to familiar Pittsburgh landmarks or symbols. The City particularly welcomes original and unexpected interpretations of Pittsburgh\u2019s identity and future. Submissions may be made by individual Pittsburgh residents, as well as by organizations located within the City of Pittsburgh.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Eligible media will include a broad range of original, human-created visual art. AI-generated imagery will not be accepted. Full eligibility, media, rights, artwork, and submission requirements are available on the project webpage<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The project is open to individuals who currently reside within the City of Pittsburgh and to groups or organizations located within the City of Pittsburgh.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Submissions opened on Sept. 16 and will close on Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. The Grand Prize winner and five finalists will be recognized by the City and their work will be celebrated publicly.<\/p>\n
