MILFORD TWP., Pa. – A mass casualty incident was declared following an accident with heavy entrapment on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Sunday morning, authorities say.<\/p>\n
Emergency response teams were dispatched to I-476 North near Steinburg Road in Bucks County shortly after 8 a.m. for an auto extraction, officials say.<\/p>\n
It’s not clear how many cars were involved, but at least one vehicle traveled off the roadway and down an embankment.<\/p>\n
According to authorities, the extraction involved a coordinated effort between several different fire and emergency response crews.<\/p>\n
Crews on scene confirmed that one person was heavily entrapped in a vehicle, and four additional people required transportation to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Due to the number of people involved, a mass casualty incident (MCI) was declared, Milford Volunteer Fire Company says.<\/p>\n
