{"id":291425,"date":"2026-09-22T09:16:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T09:16:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/291425\/"},"modified":"2026-09-22T09:16:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T09:16:13","slug":"man-shot-in-head-killed-inside-northeast-philadelphia-corner-store-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/291425\/","title":{"rendered":"Man shot in head, killed inside Northeast Philadelphia corner store, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An 18-year-old man was shot in the head and killed inside a Northeast Philadelphia corner store Monday night, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Police said officers responded to the corner of Marcella Street and Summerdale Avenue just before 9 p.m. and found the man shot in the head inside the corner store.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The man was lying on the floor of the takeout area suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, according to police. He was taken to Einstein Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police believe he might have been targeted. The 18-year-old was known to frequent the store.<\/p>\n<p>Police said officers found one spent shell casing inside the store and 25 spent shell casings outside the corner store on the sidewalk and street along Summerdale Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>A block away from the corner store, police found a stolen Nissan that was running that crashed into parked cars. Both the driver&#8217;s-side and passenger-side doors were open, but the car was unoccupied. Police believe the vehicle is connected to the shooting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Two properties on the 800 block of Marcella Street were also struck by gunfire, according to police.
