19-year-old Axel Montes-Rivera is charged with homicide <\/a>in the death of 33-year-old Daniel Matos, who was found dead from a gunshot wound in a storage unit along Cumberland Street in Lebanon on Sept. 18.<\/p>\nPolice have said Matos was being “targeted” in the shooting.<\/p>\n

Investigators said Matos was working on a 2010 Toyota Corolla outside a unit when a blue Acura, later found to have been driven by Montes-Rivera, was seen on surveillance video entering the storage-unit area. A Jeep was also seen parking next to the Acura that Montes-Rivera got out of, and he was seen talking with someone from the Jeep.<\/p>\n
When Montes-Rivera approached a fence, he allegedly pulled out a gun and fired shots at Matos, who then fell right away into the storage unit, police said. He then put the gun in his waistband and left in the Acura.<\/p>\n
Police were able to find the owner of the Jeep and spoke with them, who identified Montes-Rivera as the alleged shooter through a photo lineup, court documents show. They said Montes-Rivera allegedly called them and told them, “I ran into Matos at the garages,” after the shooting.<\/p>\n
Court documents noted he is not legally allowed to carry a firearm.<\/p>\n
Montes-Rivera also faces felony charges of flight to avoid apprehension\/trial\/punishment and a firearm not to be carried without a license.<\/p>\n
He was lodged in Lebanon County Prison, with bail denied by Magisterial District Judge Anthony Verna, court records show. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 1.<\/p>\n
