Uptown Flats opens in Pittsburgh to provide affordable housing<\/p>\n

Allegheny County officials celebrated the completion of Uptown Flats, a new effort to expand access to safe and affordable housing.<\/p>\n

Located at Fifth Avenue and Stevenson Street, the new development provides housing for people experiencing homelessness and people with disabilities who are trying to get stable housing.<\/p>\n

The building has amenities such as a community room and an outdoor courtyard, and there are offices for supportive services.<\/p>\n

“To go somewhere like this is a miracle to me,” said Donna G., a resident of Uptown Flats. “I’m just starting college again. My birthday is tomorrow, so it’s almost like a birthday gift. I’m looking forward to peace and quiet, and being able to study there and have my first place of my own.”<\/p>\n

Uptown Flats is part of a partnership with Bethlehem Haven and Action Housing.
