A small creek became a frightening threat for residents of a Pennsylvania mobile home park as heavy rain sent water surging toward their homes.

Residents of Town & Country Court in Canton Township say flooding from the nearby creek has become a recurring problem that gets worse with each round of rain, Pittsburgh ABC affiliate WTAE reported.

For Scott Hansel, the latest flooding left pieces of his home in the water.

Hansel said he returned from church after Sunday’s flooding to discover that siding had been ripped from his trailer. He was still finding pieces of it in the creek afterward.

“It was a major disaster. This work never ends,” Hansel told WTAE.

Now, he’s worried about what could happen the next time the water rises.

“My trailer [might go] down the creek next,” he said.

Neighbor Daniel Oliverio was also left cleaning up after water flooded his shed, where he stored lawn equipment, tools and fishing supplies.

“All my belongings, like, lawn mowers, weed whackers, tools, you name it,” Oliverio told the outlet. “I have all kinds of fishing nets and gear.”

Oliverio described seeing “water everywhere” and said a drain running from a nearby road had become clogged. Residents also told WTAE that they believe construction uphill has contributed to more water flowing toward their homes.

“This happens every year, and it’s getting worse and worse,” Oliverio said. “I don’t know what to tell them. I mean, nobody cares. Seems like nobody cares as long as it ain’t their house.”

A Canton Township supervisor told WTAE he has been seeking state and federal assistance for the township’s creeks for seven years without seeing progress.

Township officials visited the mobile home park on Monday and are encouraging Washington County residents to report damage to their homes and property so they can be connected with available resources.
