{"id":292223,"date":"2026-09-23T12:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-23T12:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/292223\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T12:00:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T12:00:09","slug":"delco-data-center-what-we-know-about-possible-proposal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/292223\/","title":{"rendered":"Delco data center: What we know about possible proposal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                    What happens next?<\/p>\n<p>Trainer Borough\u2019s zoning officer, Charles Remaley, confirmed to Altieri in August that the property\u2019s industrial zoning allows for development of a data center \u201cby-right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe proposed development is therefore permitted with respect to use,\u201d Remaley wrote. \u201cAny Required site plan, subdivision, building, engineering, environmental, or other Governmental approvals shall be obtained separately as applicable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If Link Logistics chooses to pursue the data center project, it will need to submit a site plan for approval by the Trainer Borough Planning Commission and Borough Council.<\/p>\n<p>The project would also likely need environmental permits from the state of Pennsylvania, including stormwater and erosion control permits and air pollution permits for backup generators. Gov. Josh Shapiro recently signed an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pa.gov\/governor\/newsroom\/2026-press-releases\/governor-shapiro-signs-executive-order-on-data-center-developmen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">executive order<\/a> reserving a more efficient process of environmental permit review for data center proposals that commit to meeting the <a href=\"https:\/\/dced.pa.gov\/business-assistance\/data-center-resources\/grid-standards\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Governor\u2019s Responsible Infrastructure Development, or GRID, standards<\/a> and have already received local approval.<\/p>\n<p>Link Logistics also sought preliminary zoning approval from Lower Chichester Township, for the portion of the site that lies within that municipality. In a <a href=\"https:\/\/lowerchitwp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/RidgeRdLetter.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">letter dated July 22<\/a>, Frank E. Hendron, Lower Chichester Township zoning officer, said a data center is not a permitted use under the site\u2019s current zoning.<\/p>\n<p>The preliminary test fit drawing included in Altieri\u2019s August letter to Trainer Borough shows the data center building located only within the portion of the site located in Trainer.<\/p>\n<p>A Link Logistics spokesperson said in a written statement provided by Altieri on Monday that the company is \u201cpleased to have received a favorable Preliminary Opinion from Trainer Borough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not a building permit; any project, should we decide to pursue, will require an application and Borough approvals,\u201d the spokesperson wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The environmental advocacy group Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living is hosting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/2471068243627178\/?post_id=2471068380293831&amp;acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A[%7B%22mechanism%22%3A%22footer_attachment%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22newsfeed%22%7D]%2C%22ref_notif_type%22%3Anull%7D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">community meeting<\/a> about the possible proposal Sept. 23 in Boothwyn.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"What happens next?
