That\u2019s when Reading last celebrated an outright Eastern League championship win \u2014 31 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday night, fans couldn\u2019t have been more happy, cheering in stands that the team\u2019s drought was finally over.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so excited,\u201d said one fan. \u201cI\u2019ve never been part of a championship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Fightin Phils beat the Erie SeaWolves, 13-4, to sweep the championship series and bring the title back to Reading.<\/p>\n<p>The last time the R-Phils had a championship appearance was in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s been crazy,\u201d said another fan. \u201cIt\u2019s been a long time coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Faithful fans say they never gave up and they\u2019ve been patiently waiting for this moment for over 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>                    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfmz.com\/news\/area\/berks\/reading-area\/reading-phillies\/article_d02f204a-4baa-4c5c-8fca-158df2114abb.html\" class=\"tnt-asset-link\" aria-label=\"Buzzing with excitement: Reading Phillies aim to get their 1st outright championship in more than 30 years\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>                &#13;<br \/>\n                        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAQAAAADCAQAAAAe\/WZNAAAAEElEQVR42mM8U88ABowYDABAxQPltt5zqAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==\" alt=\"Buzzing with excitement: Reading Phillies aim to get their 1st outright championship in more than 30 years\" class=\"img-responsive lazyload full blur\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" data- data-\/><br \/>\n                <\/a><\/p>\n<p>             <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1790168556_758_6ab2f06c03eb3.image.jpg\" alt=\"\" aria-hidden=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"113\" width=\"200\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"tnt-summary\">The general manager at the R-Phils says it&#8217;s a different vibe when the team is playing at this stage of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve been coming here for 25 of those years, so it would feel absolutely amazing,\u201d said one man.<\/p>\n<p>The wait, some fans said, made their win all the sweeter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn&#8217;t get to see \u201895, obviously, but to get to see this one is awesome,\u201d said a man at the game.<\/p>\n<p>Late Tuesday night, the celebration was still going on at FirstEnergy Stadium.
