BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 39th annual Celtic Classic is set for this weekend in downtown Bethlehem.<\/p>\n
Crews are busy preparing for the event, which is expected to draw thousands of people from across the country and beyond.<\/p>\n
Organizers say it’s similar to building a “mini city” in downtown Bethlehem.<\/p>\n
The final tents are being pitched, the fences are nearly built, and the infrastructure inside of the tents will begin to be placed Wednesday!<\/p>\n
The event celebrates the seven Celtic nations.<\/p>\n
People from all over the country and across the pond are invited. Organizers expect nearly 200,000 people to attend.<\/p>\n
There will be plenty of entertainment, including the U.S. National Highland Games Championships, five stages of world-renowned Celtic live music, and pipe band competitions.<\/p>\n
Guests can enjoy an array of food, from traditional Celtic dishes to American classics.<\/p>\n
Executive Jayne Ann Recker says she started as a volunteer for the festival in 1993, calling it a family-friendly event, with an even tighter-knit group of dedicated volunteers.<\/p>\n
“Some of the volunteers down here have been with us for more than 30 years,”\u00a0Recker said.<\/p>\n
“Yeah, it is truly a family, and we always say there’s a lot of love at the Celtic Classic. We’ve had multiple engagements here. We even had a wedding on the field one year. So yeah, we have a great time. We enjoy being with one another, and we just want more to come and join us.”<\/p>\n
