PENNSYLVANIA (WJAC) \u2014 As Measles cases continue to rise across Pennsylvania, concerns are also growing within the medical profession, with the state\u2019s Department of Health now promoting something called a \u2018Titer Test.\u2019<\/p>\n
Officials explain that it is a simple blood test to determine if someone has the measles antibodies in their bloodstream.<\/p>\n
Johnstown area doctor Richard Wozniak trains doctors in Conemaugh\u2019s residency program and says that one of the best things someone can do to prevent the infection is to get vaccinated.<\/p>\n
The measles vaccine was developed in 1967, and doctors say that for those who have had their routine childhood vaccinations since then, they should be immune.<\/p>\n
But for those who are unsure, doctors say it\u2019s best to get the test done.<\/p>\n
Medical officials say the test measures the level of antibodies in one\u2019s bloodstream to determine if they are healthy enough to fight off a potential measles infection.<\/p>\n
Officials say the test is available to all ages, and regardless of any preexisting health conditions.<\/p>\n
