Traffic on lower Peach Street toward West 14th Street will have to make route adjustments as the bridge near Union Station is closed for repairs.<\/p>\n
CSX officials<\/a> doing repairs at the scene told the Erie Times-News on Sept. 23 that the road closure was for general maintenance on the railroad bridge that runs over Peach Street.<\/p>\n More: Erie housing town hall focuses on solutions, resources for residents<\/a><\/p>\n Austin Staton, CSX director of media relations, said in an email response to questions about the closure that workers are “installing support beams beneath the bridge to support public safety.”<\/p>\n “Safety is our top priority, and CSX continually invests in maintaining a safe, resilient rail network in the communities where we live and work,” Staton said in the email. “The work is not affecting freight traffic.”<\/p>\n That closed section of Peach Street is expected to reopen Sept. 30 by 10 a.m., barring “severe weather or an unexpected disruption,” Staton said in the email.<\/p>\n If you are driving in the area<\/p>\n Drivers heading north on Peach Street between West 14th and West 18th streets can travel east or west on West 18th Street toward State or Myrtle streets.<\/p>\n Driving trends: Erie traffic crashes remain high as police focus on enforcement efforts<\/a><\/p>\n State Street leads you to West 12th Street and downtown Erie.
