Family business takes Mexican dining and one-stop shopping to next level at El Primo Produce<\/p>\n
El Primo Produce & Restaurant in Norristown is the ultimate ‘one stop shop’. The 11,000 square-foot space includes a restaurant, a grocery store with fresh produce and pantry items, a bakery with fresh pastries and breads, a butcher shop, a juice bar, shelves of novelty and gift items, and even a section for authentic cowboy boots, belts, and sombreros. Brothers Danny and Eli Ceron say this type of shop is not unusual in their hometown of Puebla, Mexico — and they want guests to feel transported. Their father Felix Ceron worked in restaurants when he immigrated from Mexico in 1992, eventually opening the original El Primo 16 years ago as a grocery store. Danny and Eli were born and raised here, and the whole family grew the business to a taco stand, and then to a restaurant. On the dining side, authenticity is paramount, with booths and tables imported from Mexico and hand-painted murals done by an artist who flies in from Mexico. The family’s mini-empire now totals 7 hospitality businesses altogether, including a nightclub in Wilmington, Delaware, and a full bakery across the street from El Primo. El Primo also just got approved for a liquor license, so seasonal adult beverages should be making their way onto the menu soon.<\/p>\n
El Primo Produce & Restaurant<\/a> | Instagram<\/a> | Facebook<\/a> hours 8am-10pm daily, later on weekends: Store open daily 7am-11pm<\/p>\n Burrito Feliz opens their first brick-and-mortar in West Philly<\/p>\n After building a loyal following with its bright green food trucks, Burrito Feliz has opened its first brick-and-mortar location in West Philadelphia.<\/p>\n Owner Miguel Nolasco and his wife, Leticia, who both grew up in Puebla, Mexico, launched the restaurant in June to bring authentic Mexican flavors to Philadelphia.<\/p>\n The menu features customer favorites like birria tacos made with eight-hour slow-cooked beef, birria burritos, Baja fish tacos, and tacos served on handmade tortillas made from fresh masa. For dessert, Leticia prepares homemade flan.<\/p>\n The couple started Burrito Feliz as a South Philly food cart and later expanded to three food trucks through catering and private events.<\/p>\n Today, while the food trucks continue to travel throughout the region, the new West Philly taqueria gives customers a permanent place to enjoy the family’s homemade Mexican cuisine.<\/p>\n Burrito Feliz <\/a>| Instagram <\/a> La Isla is brings the flavors of Puerto Rico to Wildwood Beyond the food, La Isla was designed to feel like a little piece of Puerto Rico, with colorful d\u00e9cor, music and a welcoming, family atmosphere.<\/p>\n La Isla is located at 4100 New Jersey Avenue in Wildwood and open year-round.<\/p>\n La ISLA Restaurant | Facebook<\/a> | Instagram<\/a> Am\u00e1 garnering rave reviews for its elevated Mexican menu in Fishtown<\/p>\n Am\u00e1 in Fishtown<\/a> opened last spring bringing an elevated twist on Mexican cuisine to the Fishtown neighborhood. Chef Frankie Ramirez and his wife Veronica along with partners Roberto Medina and Crisalida Mata have created and experience that is receiving rave reviews locally and nationally.<\/p>\n The Restaurant recently showed up on New York Times list of “41 Greatest Mexican Restaurants Across the United States.” And the eatery’s swordfish tacos were called one of “The Absolute Best Dishes We Ate at New Restaurants in 2026” by bon app\u00e9tit magazine.<\/p>\n The restaurant features an array of flavors enhanced by a custom wood fire grill Frankie designed specifically for the restaurant. He credits her with many of the flavors found on the menu and believes the shop is a way to honor her legacy. The kitchen features hot and cold sandwiches, decadent pancakes and crepes topped with homemade jam. They’re fully vaccinated. The shelter does a…really great job at picking cats that would work well in this environment,” said Co-Founder, Sophia Coello.<\/p>\n “I struggle myself with anxiety and I really come into this place to find peace and a sense of calm. Each piece features images relevant to the region where she grew up. The Tenango style was born in the 1960s inspired by cave drawings found in the mountains near Tania’s town. She learned the craft as a child.<\/p>\n When the pandemic hit, she revived the skills she learned as a kid in Mexico and started making masks. That led to interest in other items and has grown into a business. She sells her items at local markets including the Cherry Street Pier and you can find her store online.<\/p>\n Tenangos Philly<\/a> | Facebook <\/a>| Instagram<\/a><\/p>\n “Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors” runs October 6 – 25 at Bristol Riverside Theatre<\/p>\n If you like to laugh, “Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors” is a monster story you can really sink your teeth into.<\/p>\n “It’s just a total spoof of ‘Dracula,'” says Ken Kaissar, co-producing director of Bristol Riverside Theatre and director of “Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors.”<\/p>\n He says it’s a blend of the traditional Dracula, “I want to suck your blood,” with “all kinds of goofy humor throughout.”<\/p>\n Actor Davey Miller stars in the title role as Count Dracula.<\/p>\n “He’s really just trying to get people to pay attention to him,” says Miller.<\/p>\n Dracula is new to town, the sole survivor of a shipwreck.<\/p>\n “Vampires need to feed, so of course, he’s trying to find willing victims,” he says.<\/p>\n “Everybody is going about life rather normally before sexy Dracula shows up,” says Laura Cable, actor in “Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors.” “And they have to start figuring out the mystery.”<\/p>\n “Oh, he is so self-assured. At Captain Andy’s Market in Wyndmoor, PA, the bouquets of flowers you see when you walk in are the work of Rosy Cortes. The bouquets are a passion project of Rosy’s, a longtime team-member at the market who has been working with owner and lifelong fisherman Andy Peszka for decades. From humble beginnings in Puebla, Mexico, Rosy — the daughter of a farmer — immigrated to the United States at the age of 16 without speaking the language. Her grandmother was very sick, and her family couldn’t afford the treatments. So Rosy found work in factories and restaurants, and would send money back to Mexico for her grandmother. But it was her jobs in the lawn and garden industry where the seed was planted — she had always loved flowers, and had dreams of making it her life’s work. In her spare time, she studied with the best florists in the business, then started doing bouquets for friends, which turned into events, and a regular display at Captain Andy’s Market that continues today. Now she is about to open her own shop in the same area, a dream come true she says. Stay tuned for an opening date sometime in 2027.<\/p>\n

Tania Leon Lucas shares her unique style of stitch work she learned in her hometown of Tenango de Doria in Hidalgo, Mexico. Tenangos Philly is a collection of her work and a partnership with artisans from Mexico who bring the traditional art form to a variety of platforms.<\/p>\n
“And then he’s juxtaposed with everyone else in this town who is very much in the real story of ‘Dracula,’ who believes in love, believes in heroism and sacrificing yourself for the good of your family,” says Cable.
Cable and three other actors play a variety of roles.<\/p>\n
