After 44 years of service to the Salisbury Township School District, Michael Del Priore is leaving behind more than a job title. He departs with a reputation as a trusted problem-solver, mentor and familiar face who helped keep the district running smoothly for more than four decades.<\/p>\n
During his career, Del Priore served as a custodian, maintenance technician and, most recently, assistant to the director of facilities. Along the way, he became a go-to resource for colleagues, earning respect for both his extensive knowledge and willingness to help.<\/p>\n
Director of Facilities Bill Brackett said during the Sept. 16 school board meeting that Del Priore\u2019s contributions extended far beyond his day-to-day responsibilities. He credited him with responding to the district\u2019s facility, grounds, event and special project needs while also mentoring others, including Brackett himself.<\/p>\n
Over the years, Del Priore developed strong relationships with students, staff and community members, consistently going above and beyond what was required of him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can replace the person. I can\u2019t fill the boots,\u201d Brackett said. \u201cMr. Del Priore will be missed for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Superintendent Lynn Fuini-Hetten also praised Del Priore\u2019s work ethic, dependability and institutional knowledge.<\/p>\n
\u201cMike is everywhere,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Whether the question involved a project from 10 or 20 years ago, Fuini-Hetten said Del Priore always seemed to have the answer.<\/p>\n
\u201cMike knows,\u201d she said. \u201cHe knows where it is, how to fix it, who handled it last time and how to get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fuini-Hetten also reflected on Del Priore\u2019s sense of humor. As a retirement gift, she returned a prop leg that he had left behind in her office, drawing laughs from those in attendance. She encouraged him to return for visits, joking that no one would ask him to do any work.<\/p>\n
True to form, Del Priore responded with a smile.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wouldn\u2019t mind,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
