{"id":294219,"date":"2026-09-26T03:58:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-26T03:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/294219\/"},"modified":"2026-09-26T03:58:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-26T03:58:07","slug":"city-of-pittsburgh-declares-sept-25-dolly-parton-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/294219\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Pittsburgh declares Sept. 25 \u2018Dolly Parton Day\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 The City of Pittsburgh has declared Sept. 25 \u201cDolly Parton Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The proclamation was given to the executive director of <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.readingreadypittsburgh.org\/__;!!F8-Dj6fVkZI!e5D3G609WZBHfdnKZydfYf46FjQhngOovrAfNCMvRvNZvOVmyjhXFXJJeJd8uHuJSpScJnD0APc$\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.readingreadypittsburgh.org\/__;!!F8-Dj6fVkZI!e5D3G609WZBHfdnKZydfYf46FjQhngOovrAfNCMvRvNZvOVmyjhXFXJJeJd8uHuJSpScJnD0APc$\" target=\"_blank\">Reading Ready Pittsburgh<\/a>, Dr. Mary Denison, on Friday morning by City of Pittsburgh Community Affairs Liaison CJ Thorpe at the literacy organization\u2019s \u201cA Brighter Day: Celebrating Dolly\u2019s Legacy\u201d event at a free bookstore in Homestead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The City of Pittsburgh says the Dolly Parton Imagination Library had delivered a total of 306,532 free books to families since 2019 at the time of her death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cWe are incredibly grateful to the City of Pittsburgh for honoring Dolly in this meaningful way,\u201d said Dr. Denison. \u201cDolly understood that putting books into the hands and homes of young children can change the trajectory of their lives.
