She was a 1962 graduate of Strong Vincent H.S. and began her working years at WICU television, where she remained until 1977.

Mary Ann later began what would become a 28-year career with the United States Postal Service. She retired in 2006 as a letter carrier, but to many of the people along her route, she was much more than the person who delivered their mail. Over the years, Mary Ann became friends with many of her customers and was always willing to go the extra mile for them. Her daughters often joked that their mother couldn’t go anywhere without running into someone she knew.

Retirement didn’t come naturally to Mary Ann. After spending so much of her life working and being around people, she soon found her way to the clubhouse at Lake Pleasant Golf Course, where she worked for nine years. It was a perfect fit for her outgoing personality, and she truly enjoyed her time there.

Mary Ann married Thomas “TT” Torok in 1987, and they shared 31 years together until his passing in 2018. Among their favorite pastimes was golfing together, something that brought them many happy days and memories.

Above all else, Mary Ann loved her family. She treasured raising her three daughters and later watching her family grow to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was genuine, passionate, caring and big-hearted, and the people she loved always knew just how much they meant to her.

Mary Ann enjoyed spontaneous getaways with her daughters and her best friend of 61 years, Carol, as well as memorable family trips to Saratoga Springs for the horse races. She loved walking her dogs, Jake and Sam, and some of her most cherished memories came from traveling to Greece, where she was able to visit with her aunts and uncles and connect with a place and heritage that meant so much to her.

No matter where Mary Ann was headed, she rarely left the house without her signature red lipstick and a smile on her face.

A lifelong member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Mary Ann’s faith and Greek heritage were important parts of her life. Over the years, she lent a hand baking for the church’s festivals and working at Greek Festival booths. She also gave her time to the Emmaus Soup Kitchen, another reflection of the caring and generous spirit with which she lived her life.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Christine Hess (Stephen Howell), Elena Darden (Anthony), and Ann Spinelli (Sean); her sister, Kathleen Miller; and her brother, Louis Floros (Michelle). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cassandra Alexander (Eric), Stephanie Hess, Tyler Millimaci, Daryn Pritchard, and Craig Palotas; and her great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lydia Eller and Makai Millimaci, four step grandchildren; Tyler, Luca, Noah, and Sean, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas “TT” Torok; her brother, Constantine “Dean” Floros; her half-sister, Marjorie Swain; her half-brothers, James Floros, William Floros, and George Floros; and her dear friend of 61 years, Carol DiRaimo Lucarotti.

Mary Ann’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to UPMC Hospice, especially her caregivers Stacy and Lindsey, for the compassion and care they provided. A very special thank you is also extended to Mary Ann’s brother Louis and sister-in-law Michelle, whose Sunday dinners brought her not only a good meal, but also their love, company, and something to look forward to each week. The family is also deeply grateful for Mary Ann’s many friends and neighbors, whom she cherished dearly and who brought so much friendship and joy to her life. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 3 pm until 7 pm with a Trisagion Prayer service at 5 pm at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. A funeral service will be held at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 4376 W. Lake Rd., Erie, PA 16505, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11 am with a private burial immediately following at Erie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Julia House, PO Box 353, McKean, PA 16426 or to the Assumption Orthodox Greek Church.

Posted online on September 25, 2026

Published in Erie Times-News

Our beloved mother, Mary Ann (Floros) Torok, age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026, with…

[12
136,138,137
post-294339","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-erie","tag-erie","tag-erie-headlines","tag-erie-news
["GET
