The Erie County upset tax sale of eligible properties takes place Monday at 9 a.m., but three Erie Independence House properties will no longer be included.<\/p>\n
Erie News Now first reported that a consent motion to stay the sale was approved by Judge Jamie Mead.<\/p>\n
The decision comes as welcome news for approximately 35 people with disabilities who live at Erie Independence House West 5th, EIH Bayview, and EIH McClelland Avenue.<\/p>\n
The property’s owner has entered into a cooperation agreement with HANDS to assume management of the properties at the request of HUD, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.<\/p>\n
According to the motion, the parties will work together to address operational and financial challenges in an effort to place the three properties back on stable footing.<\/p>\n
That includes resolving delinquent accounts and implementing operational plans to ensure adequate staffing and maintenance at the properties.<\/p>\n
