In 1986, the National Institute for Women of Color proclaimed March 1 National Women of Color Day. For the past 40 years the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), UPHS, Presbyterian and Pennsylvania Hospital have sought to increase awareness of the talents and achievements of women of color by recognizing those who support women of color, regardless of their sex, gender, race, or other status, at the Women of Color at Penn (WOCAP) Awards luncheon. The Women of Color Awards honor individuals whose leadership, advocacy, service, and commitment have advanced equity, inclusion, and opportunity for women of color across the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, and the broader Delaware Valley community.<\/p>\n
As we prepare to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Women of Color Awards, we invite you to help us recognize the remarkable individuals whose contributions have made a lasting impact. This milestone year offers a special opportunity to honor both long-standing champions and emerging leaders whose work continues to inspire others and strengthen our community. Awards are presented annually in up to seven categories, and we encourage you to submit nominations for those whose dedication and achievements deserve to be celebrated.<\/p>\n

* Nominees must be affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, and\/or the greater Philadelphia area. Nominees should demonstrate one or more of the following qualities: outstanding leadership, distinguished service, a positive impact on their community, and\/or a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for women of color or serving as an inspiring role model for others.<\/p>\n
