Those who live in Williamsport have something to brag about after their city was named the second-best place to live in Pennsylvania by U.S. News & World Report.<\/p>\n
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. \u2014 If you’re looking for somewhere to live in Pennsylvania, you might want to consider the city of Williamsport.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It’s ranked the second-best place to live in Pennsylvania by U.S. News & World Report.<\/p>\n
“I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t even know they were doing this report, and when we saw the news that was out there it was something where hey, you know what, our work here in this community is being recognized and it’s not something that we were applying for; it wasn’t anything we bought an ad for or anything,” said Jason Fink, Williamsport\/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce President\/CEO.<\/p>\n
The news was also a surprise to Dave Huffman from Montoursville, who told us the ranking is exciting for the city. “It is a compliment, and of course that’s not to take away from some of the other areas in this part of the state and across the state that also provide similar types of opportunities.”<\/p>\n
To determine the ranking, U.S. News and World Reports looked at four key factors such as quality of life, desirability, value, and job market index.<\/p>\n
“We’re very proud about the fact that we’ve got a very diverse community, a lot of different job opportunities, family sustaining wages for a lot of those jobs, and they fact that we do have affordable housing here market rate housing,” said Fink.<\/p>\n
Huffman tells us that although Williamsport is ranked the best place to live, there are some improvements that can be made.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“We’ve lost a lot of retail like a lot of other places have, and the job opportunities are somewhat limited where we live, and the cost of living, although it might be low, it also is low because the jobs don’t pay what they do in bigger cities,” said Huffman.<\/p>\n
