A man was killed and another person was wounded when gunfire erupted Monday afternoon in Southwest Philadelphia, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Officers were called at around 3:15 p.m. to the 5800 block of Fernwood Street, where they found an adult man who had been shot multiple times, investigators said. He died a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, according to police<\/a>.<\/p>\n Law enforcement officials said Tuesday that he is still considered a \u201cJohn Doe\u201d and has yet to be identified.<\/p>\n The other victim, a 20-year-old man, later showed up at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in a private vehicle, police said. He was treated for a gunshot wound to his left leg and listed in stable condition, the PPD stated.<\/p>\n There was no word on any arrests. He was sitting in a car when a bullet struck his hand, according to investigators.<\/p>\n No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the incident. Police have not commented on whether the shootings could be related.<\/p>\n Through Sept. 28, 130 homicides have been documented, down about 21% compared to the same date last year, PPD data shows<\/a>.
