Pennsylvania Latino groups push voter engagement ahead of November elections<\/p>\n

The event is part of a broader national effort to engage and mobilize Latino voters.<\/p>\n

As Pennsylvania lawmakers return to Harrisburg for the fall legislative session, Latino advocacy, labor, faith and community organizations are highlighting the growing influence of Latino voters ahead of the November elections.<\/p>\n

About a dozen organizations joined UnidosUS Action PAC, Latino Victory and members of the Pennsylvania Latino Caucus Monday at the state Capitol to discuss voter engagement and economic issues affecting Latino communities.<\/p>\n

The groups say issues including the cost of groceries, housing, health care, wages and jobs are among the concerns shaping conversations with voters.<\/p>\n

The event is part of a broader national effort involving UnidosUS Action Fund, LULAC, Latino Victory Fund and Mi Familia Vota to engage and mobilize Latino voters ahead of the November elections.<\/p>\n

The timing of the event coincides with lawmakers’ return to the Capitol, where several economic issues remain before the General Assembly, including legislation addressing Pennsylvania’s minimum wage.<\/p>\n

UnidosUS Action PAC Executive Director Rafael Collazo said Latino voters expect elected leaders to address the issues affecting their families.<\/p>\n

A recent UnidosUS analysis found that about 38% of Hispanic voters nationally are part of what the organization calls a “movable middle,” voters who are independent, undecided, or crossed party lines in the 2024 election.<\/p>\n

The analysis found economic concerns, including the cost of living, jobs and wages, health care and housing, are among the top priorities for those voters.<\/p>\n
