{"id":296440,"date":"2026-09-29T21:52:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T21:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/296440\/"},"modified":"2026-09-29T21:52:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T21:52:09","slug":"whitehall-coplay-busing-lawsuit-heads-to-court-as-judge-hears-arguments-allentown-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/296440\/","title":{"rendered":"Whitehall-Coplay busing lawsuit heads to court as judge hears arguments | Allentown Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. &#8211; A judge is hearing arguments this week in a lawsuit against the Whitehall-Coplay School District for ending school bus service for charter students.<\/p>\n<p>The first court hearing on the case was held Tuesday in the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Six charter schools are suing the district after it <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wfmz.com\/news\/area\/lehighvalley\/lehigh-county\/allentown-area\/parents-push-back-on-whitehall-coplay-plan-to-move-charter-school-students-to-public-transit\/article_40aed5da-5218-436d-aee4-68a94d393508.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">stopped bussing kids 12 and up<\/a> in those schools as a cost-saving measure.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the district said those <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wfmz.com\/news\/area\/lehighvalley\/lehigh-county\/allentown-area\/would-you-put-your-kid-on-a-public-bus-at-12-charter-schools-parents-sue\/article_a37d3852-0c0b-45a0-b5bc-e79146c326e4.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">kids can either switch to a public school or take LANTA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs allege the new policy violates state law.
