PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — The thunderous applause, the interactions with fans, and the National Anthem are all quintessential elements of baseball that fans of all abilities can enjoy.

Students from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf put hours of practice into proving just that.

On Friday, September 25, 2026, they performed the National Anthem in American Sign Language at the Phillies game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

They were accompanied by the vocal talents of the Northern Burlington County Middle School choir.

After the performance, six students joined dozens of family, friends, and classmates who purchased tickets for what the school calls ‘Phillies Deaf Awareness Night.’

The night out was facilitated through the Phillies’ Phunraising events. A portion of ticket sales supported the school’s athletic programs.

Pennsylvania School for the Deaf is a more-than-200-year-old institution located in Germantown, Philadelphia. To learn more, visit their website.
