{"id":296682,"date":"2026-09-30T06:24:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-30T06:24:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/296682\/"},"modified":"2026-09-30T06:24:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-30T06:24:13","slug":"trib-hssn-pennsylvania-high-school-football-rankings-for-sept-29-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/296682\/","title":{"rendered":"Trib HSSN Pennsylvania high school football rankings for Sept. 29, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Perhaps it is the calm before the October storm, or maybe the elite teams have settled in and it\u2019s business as usual for the top schools around the state.<\/p>\n<p>Time will tell, but for a second straight week, there was very little movement in the Trib HSSN state rankings at the midway point of the season.<\/p>\n<p>With St. Joseph\u2019s Prep enjoying an open week, the other 29 ranked teams were a combined 26-3 in Week 5.<\/p>\n<p>Two teams that lost remained in the Top 5 as Farrell dropped from No. 2 to No. 3 in Class 2A after a loss to Ursuline (Ohio), and Washington dropped two spots to No. 4 after losing to No. 3 Clairton.<\/p>\n<p>The only team to fall out of the Trib HSSN Top 5 was South Fayette in 4A. The Lions were bumped for undefeated North Pocono.<\/p>\n<p>There were no changes again at No. 1 with Central Catholic in 6A, Pine-Richland in 5A, Shamokin in 4A, Northwestern Lehigh in 3A, Southern Columbia in 2A and Bishop Guilfoyle Academy all still on top of their classifications.<\/p>\n<p>The only head-to-head clash of ranked teams in Week 6 comes out of District 4 when Class 3A No. 4 Mt. Carmel hosts 2A top-ranked Southern Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the latest Trib HSSN rankings in each of the six classifications. Teams are listed with overall record, last week\u2019s ranking and district.<\/p>\n<p>Class 6A<\/p>\n<p>1. Central Catholic (5-0) (1) (D-7): The Vikings defeated Seneca Valley in Week 5, 62-0. They visit Mt. Lebanon on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>2. Harrisburg (5-0) (2) (D-3): The Cougars defeated Altoona in Week 5, 40-20. They host Carlisle on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>3. State College (5-0) (3) (D-6): The Little Lions defeated Cedar Cliff in Week 5, 44-0. They visit Cumberland Valley on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>4. St. Joseph Prep (2-1) (4) (D-12): The Hawks did not play in Week 5. They visit Cardinal O\u2019Hara on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>5. Bishop McDevitt (4-1) (5) (D-3): The Crusaders defeated Cumberland Valley in Week 5, 20-0. They visit Central Dauphin on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Out: None<\/p>\n<p>Class 5A<\/p>\n<p>1. Pine-Richland (4-1) (1) (D-7): The Rams defeated North Allegheny in Week 5, 40-7. They host Moon on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>2. Springfield-Delco (5-0) (2) (D-1): The Cougars defeated Upper Darby in Week 5, 43-0. They visit Harriton on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>3. Imhotep Charter (4-1) (3) (D-12): The Panthers defeated Abraham Lincoln in Week 5, 54-14. They host George Washington on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>4. Southern Lehigh (5-0) (4) (D-11): The defending PIAA 4A champion Spartans defeated Lehighton in Week 5, 35-0. They visit Saucon Valley on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>5. Twin Valley (5-0) (5) (D-3): The Raiders defeated Garden Spot in Week 5, 42-6. They host Fleetwood on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Out: None<\/p>\n<p>Class 4A<\/p>\n<p>1. Shamokin (5-0) (1) (D-4): The Indians defeated Central Mountain in Week 5, 55-0. They host Selinsgrove on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>2. General McLane (5-0) (2) (D-10): The Lancers defeated Corry in Week 5, 42-14. They visit Harbor Creek on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>3. West York (5-0) (3) (D-3): The Bulldogs defeated Kennard-Dale in Week 5, 55-3. They visit Eastern York on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>4. Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast (3-2) (4) (D-12): The Friars defeated Conwell-Egan Catholic in Week 5, 28-14. They host Roman Catholic on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>5. North Pocono (5-0) (NR) (D-2): The Trojans defeated Abington Heights in Week 5, 21-0. They visit Wilkes-Barre on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Out: South Fayette (7)<\/p>\n<p>Class 3A<\/p>\n<p>1. Elizabeth Forward (5-0) (3) (D-7): The Warriors defeated Southmoreland in Week 5, 41-0. They visit Greensburg Salem on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>4. Mount Carmel (5-0) (5) (D-4): The Red Tornadoes defeated Danville in Week 5, 42-21. They host 2A No. 1 Southern Columbia on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>5. Propel Braddock Hills (3-2) (4) (D-7): The Lions defeated Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Week 5, 51-12. They host Shady Side Academy on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Out: None<\/p>\n<p>Class 2A<\/p>\n<p>1. Southern Columbia (5-0) (1) (D-4): The defending PIAA 2A champion Tigers defeated Central Columbia in Week 5, 46-6. They visit 3A No. 4 Mt. Carmel on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>2. Seton LaSalle (5-0) (3) (D-7): The Rebels defeated Chartiers-Houston in Week 5, 65-24. They host Carlynton on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>3. Farrell (4-1) (2) (D-10): The Steelers lost to Ursuline (OH) in Week 5, 24-13. They do not play this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>4. Richland (5-0) (4) (D-6): The Rams defeated Forest Hills in Week 5, 34-7.
