An 83-year-old woman is hospitalized after she was hit by stray gunfire while sitting on the front porch of her home on Wednesday, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. <\/p>\n
The shooting unfolded just before 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 30 along the 2300 block of North Gratz Street in North Philly, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspect Scott Small told NBC10. <\/p>\n
When officers got to the scene, they found an 83-year-old woman in front of her house suffering from two gunshot wounds to her torso, Small said. <\/p>\n
She was conscious and officers took her to a nearby hospital where she is listed in stable condition, Small explained. <\/p>\n
Detectives said they believe she was sitting on her front porch when she was hit by stray gunfire as a shootout unfolded along the block. <\/p>\n
Officers found over 40 spent shell casings from two different semi-automatic weapons, Small said. <\/p>\n
Nearby, police reported finding a car riddled with bullet holes that had jumped a curb and hit a telephone pole.<\/p>\n
The pole fell on top of the car and was still running when officers got there, Small said. No one was inside the vehicle but a gun was visible inside of it. <\/p>\n
Cameras throughout the neighborhood recorded the entire incident, Small explained. <\/p>\n
In the videos, a car is seen going eastbound along Dauphin Street when a man gets out and fires a gun several times, Small reported. <\/p>\n
The man then gets back into a car before driving eastbound again along Dauphin, Small said. <\/p>\n
That car was reportedly stolen earlier on Wednesday and officers are searching for it. <\/p>\n
