{"id":297725,"date":"2026-10-01T16:38:07","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T16:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/297725\/"},"modified":"2026-10-01T16:38:07","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T16:38:07","slug":"philadelphia-cyclist-begins-3-day-240-mile-ride-for-coast-2-coast-4-cancer-relay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/297725\/","title":{"rendered":"Philadelphia cyclist begins 3-day, 240-mile ride for Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer relay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao MvWXB TjIXL aGjvy ebVHC \">PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) &#8212; A cyclist from Philadelphia&#8217;s Fishtown section began a three-day, 240-mile cross-country relay on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The relay ride helps raise money and awareness for cancer research, and comes as Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicks off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Denny Lai says his mission is personal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">His grandmother had breast cancer and passed away in 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Lai is now part of a nine-member relay team for Bristol Myers Squibb&#8217;s <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/c2c4c.donordrive.com\/participants\/31236\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer ride.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The journey started in Oregon and ends in Longwood, New Jersey, on October 7.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Lai&#8217;s portion is from Indianapolis, Indiana, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">He says he got a lot of support from his neighbors in Philadelphia during his training.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">The goal is to raise $1 million.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2026 WPVI-TV.
