\n Richardson has emerged among the bookmakers’ contenders for the Bradford vacancy ahead of the unusual situation of welcoming the Bantams to the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday.\n<\/p>\n
\n Asked which dugout he would be occupying this weekend, Richardson joked: “Good start to the questions.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The Reading boss, who arrived in Berkshire in October 2025, admitted it was flattering to see his name linked with other clubs and believes it reflects positively on the work being done by his players.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Listen, it’s always really pleasant when you see interest from other teams or other teams around the country, so to speak,” he said.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Which means the players are doing a fantastic job.\n<\/p>\n
\n “You get recognised within your industry by your peers. So it’s all within that.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I’m sure there’s another umpteen managers as well in the betting, as I wouldn’t know.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Richardson does have previous connections which could explain why his name has been associated with the Bradford vacancy.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Royals boss has worked with a number of players connected with the Bantams during his career, while he also has a previous relationship with Bradford sporting director David Sharpe.\n<\/p>\n
\n Sharpe was chairman at Wigan Athletic during Richardson’s time with the Latics.\n<\/p>\n
\n Asked directly whether there was any truth in the suggestion he could make the move north, Richardson pointed towards those connections as a likely explanation for the speculation.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Listen, I think it would just come from the common sense of the northern team,” Richardson explained.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I’ve obviously worked with a lot of the players who were there. David Sharpe obviously was then the chairman at Wigan, now sporting director there.\n<\/p>\n
\n “So it’s probably just come from them type of links.\n<\/p>\n
\n “But yeah, I’ll be certainly in the Reading dugout come Saturday.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Richardson was then asked directly whether Bradford had made contact with him or approached him over the vacancy.\n<\/p>\n
\n His response was unequivocal: “No.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The Reading manager was pressed further given the circumstances surrounding former Royals boss Ruben Selles’ departure for Hull City, having initially played down speculation surrounding his future before eventually leaving Berkshire.\n<\/p>\n
\n Richardson, though, welcomed the questioning.\n<\/p>\n
