Officials said they met with the contractor at the site Wednesday to assess the street and plumbing conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The repairs come amid growing safety concerns among residents, who reported that the hole had grown significantly over the past six months.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/sinkhole-2.png\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, the Water Department told NBC10 that the hole is connected to a problem with a private sewer line.<\/p>\n<p>A contractor working through the city&#8217;s Homeowner Emergency Loan Program discovered last week that conditions were worsening and stopped work, according to the Water Department.<\/p>\n<p>PWD said residents on the block can expect &#8220;continued communication&#8221; as repairs move forward.
