HURON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) – The Erie County Sheriff\u2019s Office said a husband and wife died Thursday at a nursing home in an apparent murder-suicide.<\/p>\n
Deputies have not released their names at this time.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened around 11:30 a.m. at The Meadows at Osborn Park on Perkins Avenue.<\/p>\n
According to a news release, a 75-year-old man came to the nursing facility to visit his wife, who was a patient.<\/p>\n
Deputies said the man brought along a handgun, which he hid from nursing staff.<\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s office responded after staff reported two possible gunshots from the wife\u2019s room and found the pair wounded.<\/p>\n
The wife, a 73-year-old woman, died on scene. The man was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center and died there.<\/p>\n
Deputies said the Lucas County Coroner\u2019s Office will conduct autopsies.<\/p>\n
