{"id":298241,"date":"2026-10-02T09:06:16","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T09:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/298241\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T09:06:16","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T09:06:16","slug":"13-year-old-charged-in-deadly-norristown-shooting-da-says-nbc10-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/298241\/","title":{"rendered":"13-year-old charged in deadly Norristown shooting, DA says \u2013 NBC10 Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 13-year-old has been charged following an investigation into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/juvenile-killed-norristown-while-playing-with-firearm-montgomery-county-arch-street\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/juvenile-killed-norristown-while-playing-with-firearm-montgomery-county-arch-street\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">shooting death of a 16-year-old<\/a> in Norristown on Sept. 22, 2026, the Montgomery County District Attorney&#8217;s Office announced on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>The 16-year-old, identified as William Boyd, was shot and killed inside a home in the 800 block of Arch Street around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 22, 2026. The D.A.&#8217;s Office said Thursday that 13-year-old Daniel Hawkins-Boyce recklessly fired a firearm and shot Boyd once in the head.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said that a family member of Hawkins-Boyce told police at the scene that the teen had found a handgun by a trash can and had been playing with it, according to the D.A.&#8217;s Office.
