Pat’s King of Steaks owner wants justice after cheesesteak assault caught on video<\/p>\n
Authorities have not identified the man involved.<\/p>\n
“The phone hasn’t stopped ringing. People were coming and saying how sorry they were that somebody would do that to us,” said Rita Marie Oliveri, owner of Pat’s King of Steaks.<\/p>\n
Oliveri said the restaurant, which has been operating for nearly 97 years, has received an outpouring of support from customers and community members following the incident.<\/p>\n
“They’re going to get this guy. They’re going to get him. Because that’s an assault,” Oliveri said.<\/p>\n
Visitors to the restaurant also reacted to the video.<\/p>\n
“It’s horrible. Maybe wanted to get clicks, you know,” said Bob Baylinson of Fort Lauderdale.<\/p>\n
The incident has also drawn support from Pat’s longtime rival, Geno’s Steaks. Despite the well-known competition between the two cheesesteak businesses, representatives from Geno’s expressed solidarity with the employee involved.<\/p>\n
“In solidarity as people who get up and go to work every morning. I feel that, I wouldn’t want it to happen to me. That’s somebody’s grandfather. They don’t deserve that,” said Anthony Rossi of Geno’s.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing. Pat’s King of Steaks also plans to implement a ban on cameras at the restaurant.<\/p>\n
