Pat’s King of Steaks now says they plan to implement a ban on cameras at the restaurant following the incident.<\/p>\n
Oliveri said the restaurant, which has been operating for nearly 97 years, has received an outpouring of support from customers and community members.<\/p>\n
Visitors to the restaurant also reacted to the video.<\/p>\n
“It’s horrible. Maybe wanted to get clicks, you know,” said Bob Baylinson of Fort Lauderdale.<\/p>\n
The incident has also drawn support from Pat’s longtime rival, Geno’s Steaks. Despite the well-known competition between the two cheesesteak businesses, representatives from Geno’s expressed solidarity with the employee involved.<\/p>\n
“In solidarity as people who get up and go to work every morning. I feel that, I wouldn’t want it to happen to me. That’s somebody’s grandfather. They don’t deserve that,” said Anthony Rossi of Geno’s.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing.
