A pair of low-cost carriers introduced new routes from Pittsburgh International to Florida this week, growing the airport\u2019s collection of flights to the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n
Allegiant Air began a flight from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Friday. One-way fares start at $59.<\/p>\n
Breeze Airways is expanding its Pittsburgh International footprint with a new seasonal route to Vero Beach, Fla., that launched Thursday.<\/p>\n
Vero Beach is located along Florida\u2019s Treasure Coast in the southeastern part of the state. The city has a population of roughly 16,000 and is known for its golf courses and fishing.<\/p>\n
Breeze\u2019s new route offers service every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, starting at $74 for a one-way trip.<\/p>\n
Breeze currently offers 16 routes from Pittsburgh International, giving it one of the largest varieties of any carrier at the airport. The airline\u2019s expansion to Vero Beach should be a popular trip for vacationers and retirees, spokesman Ryne Williams said.<\/p>\n
\u201cA destination like Vero Beach offers our guests from Pittsburgh a nonstop flight, and a previously unserved market, to a relaxed Florida destination we know they\u2019ll love, especially during those cold winter months,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
