A man charged in connection with a 2018 Allentown homicide and aggravated assault pleaded guilty Friday.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors said Vyante Green, 31, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to charges of criminal homicide, specifically third-degree murder, and aggravated assault.<\/p>\n
According to officials, on Jan. 1, 2018, Green shot and killed Kenyatta Eutsey, 23, of Bethlehem, and shot and seriously injured Dimitri Joseph, 24, of New Jersey. The shooting occurred at a home rented for a New Year’s Eve party.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors said Green fled from the party to a nearby after-hours club and disposed of the handgun used in the shooting after learning Eutsey had died. They also said he was planning to flee to New York.<\/p>\n
In 2020, Green was initially convicted of first-degree murder, but was granted a new trial following an appeal of his conviction.<\/p>\n
In 2023, Green was found guilty of third-degree murder and aggravated assault. This verdict was overturned by an appellate court, which found that Green should have been permitted to present character witnesses about his non-violent behavior, despite his admission to shooting both victims.<\/p>\n
According to prosecutors, in his 2020 trial, Green admitted to shooting both Eutsey and Joseph, claiming he shot Eutsey because he “snatched” Green’s cellphone from him. He claimed he shot Joseph immediately after Eutsey. Green also acknowledged he had not seen a gun in either man’s hand.<\/p>\n
Following his guilty plea Friday, Green was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison, with a maximum of 50 years. <\/p>\n
