<\/a>DELMONT, Pa. \u2014<\/p>\nThis weekend marks the 44th annual Delmont Apple \u2018N Arts Festival<\/a> — two days that bring thousands to the small Westmoreland County town. <\/p>\n \u201cIt just brings everybody together,\u201d said Vicki Walters, an organizer with the festival at Shields Farm. \u201cIt\u2019s the biggest event that we have here in Delmont.\u201d <\/p>\n The festivities, headlined by the 120-year-old apple cider press, are back to provide business to over a hundred local vendors. <\/p>\n \u201cIt introduces us to some new customers, and it helps everyone,\u201d said Rob Schilling, of Greendance Winery and Sand Hill Berries. \u201cIt\u2019s an exciting weekend. We\u2019ll have our apple dumplings. We\u2019ll have our pies.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cIt’s amazing,\u201d said Kim Shankle, co-owner of K&T Creations and Things. \u201cUsually, it’s our best show of the year. With the amount of people, you can\u2019t see the walkway. It\u2019s that crowded.\u201d<\/p>\n Looking for more news in your area | Subscribe to the WTAE YouTube Channel<\/a><\/p>\n While thousands of gallons of cider and other goods are ready for this weekend, it wasn\u2019t easy making that happen in 2026.<\/p>\n \u201cAll of our apple blossoms, strawberry blossoms, we lost a lot of our early crop,\u201d Schilling said. \u201cWe probably had 10% of our apples this year.\u201d<\/p>\n Freezing temperatures in the spring killed crops across Pennsylvania. That meant organizers and vendors had to outsource more apples than usual to avoid coming up short on supply.<\/p>\n \u201cI just found out this morning, they found more apples that they can bring in,\u201d Walters said Friday morning. \u201cI don’t think we have to worry about there being a shortage of cider up there.\u201d<\/p>\n The prices of cider and bushels are a few dollars more than previous years.<\/p>\n However, the festival is happening after all. That\u2019s all that matters to the grateful vendors.<\/p>\n \u201cI’m sure that they went to great effort to get these apples in,\u201d Shankle said. \u201cThey\u2019ve been wonderful to us.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re still going to have cider and apple jack,\u201d Schilling said. \u201cI know they\u2019re going to have apples here.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe’ve been doing this for a long time,\u201d Walters said. \u201cThis is what we do. We\u2019ve just had to make different accommodations. We\u2019re juggling and doing what we\u2019ve had to do.\u201d<\/p>\n The Delmont Apple ‘N Arts Festival begins on Saturday at 10 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. It opens again on Sunday at 11 a.m. and the festival ends at 5 p.m. <\/p>\n Download the WTAE app<\/a> to stay connected with breaking news.
