SHILLINGTON, Pa. – They\u2019re getting ready.<\/p>\n
“They look at us and say, ‘oh my goodness, those people aren’t young but they’re doing this,’\u201d said Carol Lauer, a cheerleader.<\/p>\n
If you’re fortunate enough to do it — what does aging look like to you?<\/p>\n
“It’s really great because we have a lot of fellowship together. We get along. We have a lot of fun,” said Cheerleader Pat Sauder.<\/p>\n
Talented performers of a certain age across Berks County are preparing for the second edition of the Reading Civic Theater’s Senior Talent Spotlight – at its core, it’s a fundraiser for the storied theater — but it’s also a chance for seniors to prove time and talent\u00a0haven’t passed them by.<\/p>\n
“Just thinking about how fun it is and then you have to kind of think about what you’re doing next,” Lauer said.<\/p>\n
One of the acts — the world renowned “Heritage Hotties” at the Heritage of Green Hills senior community.<\/p>\n
“We were on national TV, and my brother who’s on the end of Long Island, he saw that, and my sister in South Carolina saw it,” Lauer said. “We’re famous!”<\/p>\n
“We’re very excited about it and we’re gonna do our routine, one of our regular routines, and we’re hoping that everyone’s gonna be able to come that day, so we’re really looking forward to having a good time,” Sauder said.<\/p>\n
The talent show will feature some tough competition for the Hotties, like singers, dancers, comedians and a number of other acts — but all involved have something to prove Saturday night at 7:30 at Reading Civic Theater in Exeter Township.<\/p>\n
“We know how much it makes us feel good.
