{"id":300422,"date":"2026-10-05T22:50:08","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T22:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/300422\/"},"modified":"2026-10-05T22:50:08","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T22:50:08","slug":"allegheny-county-resident-tests-positive-for-measles-shoppers-at-local-target-may-have-been-exposed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/300422\/","title":{"rendered":"Allegheny County resident tests positive for measles; shoppers at local Target may have been exposed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. \u2014 An Allegheny County resident has tested positive for measles, marking the first person who lives in the county to contract the virus this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Allegheny County Health Department officials say this resident is under 18 years old and is unvaccinated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Anyone who visited the Target at 9805 McKnight Road in the Pine Creek Shopping Plaza on Thursday, Oct. 1, between the hours of 3:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. could have been exposed to this person, the county said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">If you were at the store at that time, you are encouraged to reach out to your healthcare provider.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">No schools have been exposed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The health department said the person with measles is recovering at home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Health officials urge the public to make arrangements to receive a measles vaccine if they have not done so already. The virus is considered highly contagious and can spread when an infected person breathes, coughs or sneezes.
