PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are investigating a weekend shooting near an entertainment venue in the city’s Spring Garden neighborhood<\/a> that left one man injured and the shooter unidentified.<\/p>\n

The shooting occurred on the 1000 block of Spring Garden Street. Surveillance video captured the incident as it unfolded early Sunday morning, according to police.<\/p>\n

Investigators believe the incident began when a man left a nearby entertainment venue and became involved in an altercation.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace said, “He exited, he got into some sort of an altercation with, who we believe based on the information given to us so far, was a security guard at that same nightclub.”<\/p>\n

According to investigators, the confrontation escalated and involved three men approaching a fourth man, who can be seen in surveillance video backing away. As the confrontation moved off camera, at least one gunshot was heard.<\/p>\n

Moments later, the man who appeared to be backing away was seen leaving the area, while the person who was shot stumbled along the sidewalk.<\/p>\n

Police said they have not been able to identify the shooter, and the person’s whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities also noted that the shooter is not being referred to as a suspect in the case at this point.<\/p>\n

The shooting has done little to ease concerns among some residents and workers in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Kayela Pearsall, who lives in Spring Garden, said, “Previously, I seen a body on that step right there. So, every time I walk past, I always have that in my head.”<\/p>\n

Another resident, Scott McCaughey, said, “So, I think it’s a lot of crime and all that. A lot of drugs, you know?”<\/p>\n

The person who was shot remained in stable condition at Jefferson Hospital as of the latest update.<\/p>\n

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact investigators.<\/p>\n
