Legislation sponsored by Senator Dan Laughlin has unanimously passed the Pennsylvania Senate, moving forward a proposal aimed at helping local clubs better manage operating expenses while continuing their charitable contributions.

The bill, known as Senate Bill 465, would amend Pennsylvania’s Local Option Small Games of Chance Act. Under the proposal, licensed clubs would be allowed to retain up to 50% of proceeds from small games of chance, while still requiring at least 50% to be used for public interest purposes. Current law permits clubs to keep up to 40%, with 60% dedicated to charitable and community causes.

According to Laughlin, local clubs play an important role in supporting veterans, youth programs, fundraisers, and community initiatives, but many are facing increased operating costs and financial pressures. He said the change would provide organizations with more flexibility to cover expenses and remain viable.

The Erie County lawmaker noted that clubs serve as gathering places and provide support for a wide range of community needs. He argued that helping organizations maintain their facilities and meet everyday expenses is essential to ensuring they can continue giving back to the communities they serve.

Senate Bill 465 will now advance to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for further consideration.

Legislation sponsored by Senator Dan Laughlin has unanimously passed the Pennsylvania Senate, moving forward a proposal aimed at…

[12
51816,136,138,137,123918,12534,123917,123919
post-300950","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-erie","tag-dan-laughlin","tag-erie","tag-erie-headlines","tag-erie-news","tag-local-clubs","tag-pennsylvania-senate","tag-senate-bill-465","tag-small-games-of-chance
["GET
