An Upper Darby man has been charged by Springfield police with forcing himself on a woman.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, Springfield police charged Ahmad Tanvir, 33, with more than 35 counts including rape forcible compulsion, rape threat of forcible compulsion, kidnap to facilitate a felony, kidnap to inflict terror, sexual assault, indecent assault forcible compulsion, stalking and sexual extortion.<\/p>\n
In an email, Springfield police Lt. David DiTrolio said that his department received a complaint on Sept. 17 that the suspect threatened the victim with harm is she did not comply with sex.<\/p>\n
The two had known each other through mutual other relationships, the lieutenant said.<\/p>\n
Springfield Detective Randall Kennedy investigated the incident and was able to obtain enough evidence to charge Tanvir.<\/p>\n
On Thursday an arrest warrant was issued, and later in the day Officer Steve Hurwitz while on patrol observed the suspect\u2019s vehicle on Springfield Road, the arrested him without incident.<\/p>\n
Tanvir was arraigned before District Judge Michael Cullen who set a monetary bail of $250,000. Unable to post bail, Tanvir was taken to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility of Friday to await a Nov. 20 preliminary hearing in front of Cullen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An Upper Darby man has been charged by Springfield police with forcing himself on a woman.
