{"id":302042,"date":"2026-10-08T02:14:07","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T02:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/302042\/"},"modified":"2026-10-08T02:14:07","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T02:14:07","slug":"former-das-office-supervisors-resign-after-testimony-on-krasners-handling-of-murder-appeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/302042\/","title":{"rendered":"Former DA\u2019s office supervisors resign after testimony on Krasner\u2019s handling of murder appeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 A pair of attorneys have resigned from the Philadelphia District Attorney&#8217;s Office weeks after a judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audacy.com\/kywnewsradio\/news\/local\/krasner-federal-criminal-investigation-referral\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">referred the district attorney<\/a> and a top official to the U.S. Department of Justice for possible criminal investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Attorneys Katie Ernst and Steven Wildberger were supervisors in the law division. Weeks after testifying that District Attorney Larry Krasner directed them to \u201cprotect the office\u201d or face consequences as they worked on a federal appeal to overturn a 2009 murder conviction, they quit.<\/p>\n<p>The two were working on correcting the appeal after another former ADA had filed a document full of errors and misstatements. They were among several witnesses who testified about how Krasner handled the appeal and a possible conflict of interest.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Eastern District Judge Paul Diamond wrote an opinion pointing out possible misconduct and believed the office had a conflict in the case.
