A CSU graduate in agricultural business, she has spent nearly a decade working with landowners throughout Colorado. Delaney has served on the Erie Planning Commission since 2023, currently serving as vice chair. She and her husband, a Marine Corps veteran and corporate finance professional, are raising their two young children in Erie. Spending summers on her family’s multi-generational ranch while growing up shaped her appreciation for land, water and responsible stewardship. She is running for Town Council to protect what makes Erie feel like home.

What is the No. 1 issue in front of Erie right now, and how should it be addressed?: Water. Nearly every conversation about Erie’s future ultimately comes back to it. I work with land and water rights every day as a rural appraiser, so I understand both their value and their limitations. Erie has built a strong long-term water portfolio, but we have a near-term timing problem while we wait for major regional water projects to come online. We need to protect and diversify our water portfolio, invest in storage and treatment capacity, and carefully manage the resources we have available. We also need to make sure new development pays its fair share of the infrastructure required to serve it. I’m not anti-growth. I’m a young mom raising two kids here, and I want Erie to remain a place where families want to live. Growth must follow available resources and infrastructure, not the other way around.

With Erie’s sales tax revenue growth slowing, what is one town expense or planned project you would reduce, delay or eliminate? Where should the town be spending more?: I would delay the $170,625 Public Art and Placemaking Program before cutting core services, drawing down reserves or deferring maintenance. Public art adds character to Erie, and I support it, but when more immediate needs require our attention, this is a project that can wait. My priorities are water and wastewater infrastructure, roads, public safety and taking care of the assets taxpayers already own. My job as an appraiser is to look at value, analyze the data and support my conclusions. I approach public spending the same way. The question is not simply whether a project would be nice to have. It’s whether it is the best use of limited taxpayer dollars right now. With revenue growth slowing, Erie needs to prioritize needs over wants, protect healthy reserves and be willing to say “not yet” to projects we cannot responsibly afford.

Delaney Dreckman Website: www.delaneyforerie.com Delaney Dreckman Autobiographical statement: Delaney Dreckman is a Colorado Certified General Appraiser specializing in…

[12
1675,1676,6838,836,3612,136,138,137,1677,139,50,1680
post-302384","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-erie","tag-boulder-county","tag-colorado","tag-east-county","tag-election","tag-election-2026","tag-erie","tag-erie-headlines","tag-erie-news","tag-front-range","tag-news","tag-politics","tag-weld-county
["GET
