When police responded to the scene, they spotted the man waving a revolver, according to Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel. <\/p>\n<p>Bethel said the officers tried to engage the man with a bullhorn but were unsuccessful. <\/p>\n<p>The unidentified man then fired his gun, according to Bethel. <\/p>\n<p>A SEPTA police officer and a Philadelphia police officer both fired once and the man was shot twice. The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 11:30 a.m. <\/p>\n<p>Bethel said they are investigating if the incident was a suicide by cop. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Police shot and killed a man on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on Friday.
