Nine people are dead after a shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Friday night, city officials said.<\/p>\n

The shooter is deceased and there is no ongoing threat to the public, city officials announced<\/a>. Officials did not specify whether the shooter was included in the death toll.<\/p>\n

Investigators determined that all nine deaths occurred before officers arrived at the scene, officials said Saturday. Officers arrived within minutes of receiving a ShotSpotter alert and no additional shots were fired after they reached the scene, according to the city.<\/p>\n

Gov. Josh Shapiro said he had spoken with Erie Mayor Daria Devlin and offered his administration\u2019s \u201cfull support.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy heart breaks for this family,\u201d he wrote on X. \u201cLori and I are praying for their loved ones and the entire Erie community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officers initially had limited information upon arrival, including \u201cwhether the individual remained inside or posed an ongoing threat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officials said they would provide additional details at a 4 p.m. news conference Saturday.<\/p>\n
