Police said two children and a pregnant woman were among the dead.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have released few details, though the city issued a statement that it said was intended to clear up inaccurate information that circulated following the shooting Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Officers arrived within minutes of receiving an alert via <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/shotspotter-chicago-gunshot-technology-mayor-f9a1b24d97a1f1efb80296dbe9aff1ed\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ShotSpotter<\/a>, a controversial gunshot detection system that relies on artificial intelligence and a network of microphones to identify gunshots. All nine deaths occurred before officers arrived, the city said, and no additional shots were fired after that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSounds heard during the police response that may have been mistaken for gunfire were flash bangs associated with law enforcement&#8217;s tactical response,\u201d the city said.<\/p>\n<p>A news conference was scheduled for Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have not seen anything like this in my 28-plus years,\u201d Police Chief Rick Lorah told a local news station. \u201cI\u2019m not sure that the city of Erie has ever seen the loss of life and the devastation that we just witnessed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gov.
