After years of declining vaccination rates, Pennsylvania is experiencing one the nation\u2019s largest measles outbreaks in decades.<\/p>\n
In the Philly region in 2025, almost 250 schools had kindergarten vaccination levels below 95% \u2014 the threshold that epidemiologists say is needed to prevent community spread of the virus.<\/p>\n
The Inquirer analyzed the most recent kindergarten vaccination data available for 1,800 schools to pinpoint the communities, neighborhoods, and individual schools where children are most vulnerable. <\/p>\n
In Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester<\/a>, Montgomery, and Bucks Counties, 40% of kindergarten classrooms<\/a> were vulnerable to an outbreak during the 2025-26 school year, up from 33% the year prior, an Inquirer analysis of state data found.<\/p>\n Kindergarten vaccination rates are considered a bellwether for a community\u2019s attitudes toward vaccination, as parents are deciding whether to get the shots required by law to attend school.<\/p>\n Search the table below to see the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination rate among kindergartners at your school and how it has changed since last year.<\/p>\n The data were obtained from the state health department through a public records request.
