{"id":305234,"date":"2026-10-12T19:08:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-12T19:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/305234\/"},"modified":"2026-10-12T19:08:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-12T19:08:13","slug":"report-pittsburgh-falling-behind-in-good-paying-industrial-jobs-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/305234\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Pittsburgh falling behind in good-paying industrial jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 A new <a href=\"https:\/\/pghworks.com\/pa-and-pittsburgh-are-falling-behind-in-the-race-for-good-paying-industrial-jobs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a> by Pittsburgh Works Together is sounding the alarm on the availability of industrial jobs in the Pittsburgh region. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The report, released this week, states that since 2019, the Pittsburgh metro is lagging behind neighboring regions when it comes to industrial or goods-producing jobs. Pittsburgh Works Together, a local business and organized labor alliance, used data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for the report. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cNearly every other market in Pennsylvania is close to or above its pre-Covid total for goods-producing jobs. The total in the Pittsburgh region has shrunk by more than 10%,\u201d the report brief reads. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Some of the regions that have seen growth in goods-producing jobs in Pennsylvania include Scranton, Lancaster, York and the Lehigh Valley. Philadelphia, Reading, Erie and Harrisburg have declined, along with Pittsburgh, though to a smaller extent.
