PITTSBURGH \u2014 Some of Pittsburgh\u2019s biggest names are getting a star in the Strip District.<\/p>\n
Ten new honorees are joining the \u201cPittsburgh Walk of Fame.\u201d<\/p>\n
The latest additions include Mario Lemieux, Franco Harris and Myron Cope.<\/p>\n
Pittsburgh Walk of Fame Founder and Executive Director Nancy Polinsky Johnson said she could not have asked for a better day to add the new icons to the walk. <\/p>\n
\u201cA friend of mine sent a message to me yesterday. She said, \u2018I just checked the weather app to see what we\u2019re going to have tomorrow at 10:30 in the morning,\u2019 and what she saw was 66 degrees and sunny\u2026How perfect is that?\u201d Polinsky Johnson said.<\/p>\n
Sixty-six, synonymous with the Penguins great and philanthropist Mario Lemieux, one of only two living inductees for this year\u2019s Pittsburgh Walk of Fame class.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I look at all the stars, incredible people who have accomplished so much and done amazing things in their lives. I\u2019m so honored to be included,\u201d Lemieux said.<\/p>\n
Also included was actress and singer Shirley Jones, who\u2019s 92 years old now. She is most known for her lead role in The Partridge Family.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no place more meaningful for her to be celebrated than in her hometown of Pittsburgh,\u201d her son Patrick Cassidy said.<\/p>\n
Other notable inductees included the man who composed the theme song for The Pink Panther \u2014 Henry Mancini.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was his home, and I feel that here because when you\u2019re home you\u2019re with family, and that\u2019s how I\u2019ve been made to feel by everybody, Mancini\u2019s son Chris said.<\/p>\n
Stars also now shine along Smallman Street for dancer Martha Graham, H.J. Heinz, Jimmy Stewart, George Westinghouse, Myron Cope, Franco Harris and famous photographer Charles \u201cTeenie\u201d Harris.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to keep my father\u2019s legacy going because it\u2019s all over the world now, and that\u2019s the most wonderful thing because he really deserved that,\u201d Harris\u2019 son Lionel said.<\/p>\n
