With a market cap of\u00a0$13.2 billion<\/a>, Erie Indemnity Company (ERIE<\/a>) operates as the managing attorney-in-fact for the subscribers at the Erie Insurance Exchange in the United States. The company provides a range of services, including policy issuance and renewal, underwriting, customer support, and information technology solutions.<\/p>\n

The Erie, Pennsylvania-based company’s shares have lagged behind the broader market over the past 52 weeks.\u00a0ERIE stock has decreased 32.9%<\/a> over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX<\/a>)\u00a0has increased 12.7%.<\/a> Moreover, shares of the company are down 30.9% on a YTD basis, compared to SPX\u2019s 14.4% gain.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition, shares of the insurance company have also underperformed the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund\u2019s (XLF<\/a>)\u00a08.3% return<\/a> over the past 52 weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite beating\u00a0Q3 2025<\/a> EPS expectations with $3.50 on Oct. 30,\u00a0Erie Indemnity\u2019s shares fell 5.5%<\/a> the next day as revenue of $1.07 billion\u00a0missed estimates<\/a>. Investors were also cautious about rising commission costs, which increased $41 million year-over-year, outpacing the 7.3% growth in management fee revenue.<\/p>\n

For the current fiscal year, ending in December 2025, analysts expect Erie Indemnity\u2019s\u00a0EPS to grow 9.7% year-over-year<\/a> to $12.59. The company\u2019s earnings surprise history is mixed. It beat the consensus estimates in two of the last four quarters while missing on two other occasions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the three analysts covering the stock, the\u00a0consensus rating<\/a> is a \u201cModerate Buy.\u201d That\u2019s based on one \u201cStrong Buy\u201d rating and two \u201cHolds.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
