The Eastside Family YMCA is opening a newly renovated indoor pool to the community after completing more than $140,000 in upgrades, marking the first phase of a larger effort to modernize its aquatics facilities.

The small indoor pool at the YMCA of Greater Erie’s Eastside branch on Nagle Road recently reopened following extensive renovations that included a newly plastered interior, new tiling, and updated mechanical and chemical systems designed to reduce disruptions caused by equipment or heating issues.

“The small pool is where children learn to swim, where neighbors enjoy exercise and social time, and where families play together,” said Deanna Renaud, vice president of marketing and development for the YMCA of Greater Erie. She said the improvements create a brighter, safer, and more welcoming environment for members and families.

YMCA officials say the work is only the beginning of a broader, multi-phase project aimed at transforming the entire indoor aquatics complex. Earlier this week, the organization was approved for $86,000 through Pennsylvania’s Neighborhood Assistance Program.

An additional gift from a private foundation will help fund future renovations to the facility’s larger indoor pool. A timeline for that work is expected to be announced once contractor schedules are finalized.

Beyond the indoor facilities, YMCA leaders are also planning for the future of the outdoor pool complex. The YMCA, along with the municipalities of Harborcreek, Wesleyville, and Lawrence Park, hopes to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to determine the best long-term use of the Outdoor Community Pool site.

The study would examine community needs, demand, facility conditions, financial sustainability, and potential alternatives that could include renovations, replacement amenities, or other recreational uses.

According to YMCA officials, the goal is to create sustainable recreational opportunities that meet the needs of Erie County residents while honoring the site’s history and strengthening community connections.

The Eastside Family YMCA is opening a newly renovated indoor pool to the community after completing more than…

[12
107844,524,136,138,137,61385,9327,5727
post-310796","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-erie","tag-aquatics","tag-community","tag-erie","tag-erie-headlines","tag-erie-news","tag-indoor-pool","tag-renovation","tag-ymca
["GET
